Hamilton Beach 56221 Smoothie Smart Blender

Powerful, Simple, Loud
Our first blender over the $25 mark. We needed something for smoothies and frozen drinks, and this one delivers.

Pros:
- Useful buttons. I've seen plenty of blenders with an absurd amount of useless buttons/"modes". This model only has a few, but they're intelligent. "Crush Ice" will pulse in short intervals to... effectively crush ice. "Smoothie" will start similarly as crush ice, but transitions to a consistent blend after a few pulses. The result is a button I can push once and only have to worry about hitting "stop". The power on/off button a nice feature too.

- Power + Wave. Not sure if it's all power, or how much the "wave" effect comes into play, but this blender has no issue powering through ice/frozen fruit/whatnot. We were originally looking at the less expensive wave model, but I'm not sure if it would be as effective as this powerhouse. You can see the wave effect in action, which efficiently mixes whatever you've tossed in there.

-...

I'm really impressed
I've owned many blenders, including a Vitamix (a workhorse, but too tall and way too expensive, and not really all that--it required quite a bit of tamping to keep thick ingredients moving) and a Ninja (what a piece of utter junk). This one is the best I've ever owned--yes, including the Vitamix. I mainly want a blender for smoothies, which I like very thick and very...well, smooth. No little chips of ice etc. (part of why the Ninja was so bad.) This one was pretty amazing. water, plenty of ice, whole bananas, whole strawberries, and some protein powder, placed on the "smoothie" setting--in very little time it came out exactly the way I like it. No need to tamp.

Important price note: You can get it almost $20 cheaper at the walmart site, and the shipping is very inexpensive or you can get it shippied to your closest store location for free.

Easy to use, easy to wash.

I see several comments about noise. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference in noise...

Awesome blender. Great build quality.
This 700 watt blender really packs a punch. The function buttons are neatly laid out, and I give the blender 5 stars for ease of use.
The first smoothie, a banana/berry w/ lots of ice smoothie was ready for consumption in less than a minute. It came out buttery smooth & was a pleasure to drink. I look forward to using this blender.

Pros:
3 Year warranty.
Power cord tucks back into blender.
It has plenty of power to crush ice and frozen fruit.
Its smoothie button is nifty & and makes making smoothies more fun. Once pressed the blender will alternate blending speed and pulse for you.
Stainless steel construction.

Cons:
It is loud, but I honestly don't care.
