UPDATE: Now, Feb. 2013, the arepa maker is STILL GOING. Makes 2 dozen arepas y less than an hour and makes them consistently crispy. The arepas con't stick and come clear everytime. Still a AAA+ product.
Slow and Cold
We bought this Arepa maker to replace our Oster one that makes 4 arepas at a time. This one was very slow and took much longer to cook the arepas. In fact, after twice the normal time, the arepas were still underdone.
The root cause is that this device has a 1400 W heating element- same wattage as the 4 slot Oster. Since it's half again as big, it cooks way slower.
Love this Arepa Maker (Tostiarepa)
I have being using this arepa maker for 4 month and it works very well. The arepas are thinner than the original Oster but we prefer arepas this way. We are really happy with this purchase and the price.
