Great Toaster!
I'm really not sure what people are talking about in these reviews when they say they can only get 'warm' bread or 'burnt' bread with this toaster. Keeping my toaster on the default level of '4' produces perfectly toasted bread every time for me.
The toaster itself is beautiful. Looks just like the picture. The brushed aluminum looks really nice.
The complaints about the toaster's depth being pretty shallow are accurate. Don't expect to fit anything larger than your normal slice of bread in it without having the top stick out.
Other than that, great toaster! I'm very satisfied.
Bad, Bad, Bad
I reserve 1-star for very special situations.
Biggest problem: it won't toast bagels or bread above 3-5/8" height (see pics). Add to this 4 or 5 minor fumbles. What were they thinking? Professional toaster? Even as an Economy toaster, this an embarrassment to the Frigidaire name.
PROs:
- Thick slices - up to 1-1/4" can be toasted
- Reheat, Defrost & Bagel modes (see Note 1)
OKs:
- Looks OK - neither beautiful nor junky
- Electronic darkness setting: 1 through 7 (no fine adjustment) (no memory in case of power loss)
- Shows time left in whole minutes. Not very helpful.
- User manual is OK (see Note 2)
- Crumb tray access from rear
- Electronic controls do not waste energy while in standby mode
CONs:
* Can't handle Bagels or bread taller than 3-5/8" (see pics)
* Top of toaster gets very hot. No insulation or shielding.
- 1 year warranty - customer pays shipping cost both...
Nothing too exciting here
The toaster looks nice and does have what seem to be amply roomy slots for the various types of bread and bagels we have at home. My biggest complain is that the toast doesn't really come out toasted the way I want until I crank the toaster almost to the max (and I don't eat my toast super browned). It seems like by having the roomy slots simple toast isn't being browned properly. This problem could be alleviated a bit by using more detail in the display based on the type of item being toasted. So instead of displaying numbers they could display how dark something would be and re-calibrate the scale based on what is being put in (bagels vs. toast, etc.). The other feature that did work was the defrosting of bagels prior to toasting.
Over all, I think I am currently happier with the Toaster oven I have as it is more versatile and toasts bread the way I like it.
